In a nutshell, what is Energy 4.0?

This new term is based on the original term Industry 4.0, but unlike Industry 4.0, Energy 4.0 is not clearly defined. However, if you take a closer look at the origin of the first term, you see that the numbering actually stands for the various industrial revolutions – 1.0 for the steam engine, 2.0 for electrification, 3.0 for the digital transformation and 4.0 for dovetailing of the analogue and digital worlds.

That’s exactly what 4.0 also stands for in the energy industry. It’s about the digital side of the energy transition and the opportunities associated with it.
