The Seven2one Corporate Advisory Board

Seven2one gets reinforcement: Since January 2022, the newly established Seven2one Corporate Advisory Board has been contributing its valuable expert knowledge in order to provide advice and support in the context of fundamental decisions with a major impact on Seven2one. The Corporate Advisory Board consists of Dr Christoph Schlenzig (Chairman), Matthias Hornberger and Dr Egbert Laege.

Dr Christoph Schlenzig

Christoph completed his doctorate in energy economics at the IER of the University of Stuttgart. With the platform for energy system models that he had developed, he founded the start-up Seven2one in 2001. For 20 years, Seven2one has been using this platform to successfully develop tailored software solutions for energy supply companies (EnBW, Eon, RWE, EEX, Axpo and municipal utilities). The focus is on the digital transformation of energy industry processes. As the primary shareholder, Christoph moved from management to the Corporate Advisory Board of Seven2one in 2022. He also directs Seven2one’s research projects (including www.smart-east-ka.de), where he develops new innovative business models for smart energy neighbourhoods. He utilizes his experience for the benefit of young startup founders from Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT). As a passionate engineer, energy economist and ambassador for the energy transition, Christoph is committed to using renewable energies to make the energy supply sustainable in Germany. He is a founding member and board member of the Smart Grids Platform BW, a board member of the Karlsruhe energy network fokus.energie, and a member of the Energy Advisory Board of TechnologieRegion Karlsruhe TRK. Christoph studied physics at TU Karlsruhe, energy management at TU Berlin, and systems engineering at the University of Washington, Seattle.

Matthias Hornberger

Matthias is the Chief Financial Officer of Atevia AG, formerly web.de AG. He has been part of the management team of Atevia AG since its initial public offering in 2000 and is now involved in asset management and venture capital financing. With his many years of experience in the investment sector as well as his extensive knowledge of what makes business models successful, he is a knowledgeable point of contact for young people who are founding startups. Last but not least, Matthias brings with him extensive contacts in the high-tech industry as well as many local and national networks. He is a member of various supervisory and advisory boards, including those of Babbel Group AG, staffbase GmbH and MOQO GmbH, and has served as Chairman of the Board of High-Tech.Unternehmer.Netzwerk CyberForum in Karlsruhe since 2010. He worked for several different investment banks before joining Atevia AG. He earned a degree in business administration with study at the University of Mannheim and the University of Toronto.

Dr. Egbert Laege

Dr Egbert Laege has more than 25 years of experience in the energy and commodity trading business. He has held various senior and executive positions in the areas of power and gas trading, asset optimisation, strategy, and the commodities exchange business. Egbert Laege is currently Managing Director of SEFE Securing Energy for Europe GmbH (formerly Gazprom Germania GmbH), Berlin.

Egbert studied energy technology and energy economics at the University of Stuttgart and the University of Arizona and earned a PhD in energy economics.

His previous responsibilities included:
  • Member of the Management Board of the European Energy Exchange (EEX) with responsibility for Global Gas and the Asia-Pacific region
  • President and CEO of the POWERNEXT gas exchange in Paris and CEO of EEX Asia in Singapore.
  • CCO and Member of the Executive Board of E.ON Global Commodities, Düsseldorf
  • CCO and Member of the Management Board of E.ON Ruhrgas, Essen
  • Board functions in various energy industry associations such as EFET and EURO-PEX
  • Senior Advisor at Boston Consulting Group BCG in the Energy Practice and the Global Commodity Trading Practice
